Q: Why do we only sell to New Yorkers?
In our experience, we’ve had many problems dealing with electric bicycles we received from out-of-state companies ranging from damages during freight and shipping (which happens all too often) to the extra costs and inconvenience in getting warranties serviced (you’d have to spend money on packaging and shipping your electric bicycle back to the vendor just to fix, say, a broken fuse in the controller).
The out-of-state companies are not at fault – it’s just that warranty and reliability problems are inherent in long-distance bike sales.
For example, we found that when you order an electric bike from out-of-state, the only viable solution to getting warranty service on your bike would be to first diagnose what’s wrong yourself, then request and receive the correct replacement parts from the out-of-state vendor, then find a specialized e-bike repair person and make certain he/she can do the job, and then finally – if everything works out – pay for the repair labor – a cost that we believe warranty holders shouldn’t have to pay.
These factors take the wind out of the warranties from out-of-state electric bicycles.
This is why we’ve become staunch believers in buying bicycles or electric bicycles locally. And it’s why we fashioned our brand as a NYC-centric one.
